Cosmetics properties of Cistus incanus herba glycolic extract

Summary
In this work it was analysed the cosmetic properties of glycolic extract of Cistus incanus. Physicochemical properties of extract obtained by periodic turboextraction method was analysed: stability, ability to absorb of UV radiation, antioxidant properties and skin hydration potential. Saponin content, the surface tension measurement and patch test (allergenic potential) was also determined. It has been shown that the glycolic extract of Cistus incanus has very strong antioxidant properties and has the ability to absorb UV radiation. Content of saponin in the Cistus herb is around 5%, which results in the ability of the extract to reduce
the surface tension of water. It was also observed an increase in skin hydration after application of the extract. The extract is inert to the skin (patch test). The results show that the extract from the Cistus incanus may be a new, multi-functional cosmetic raw material.
