The analysis of a market offer of anti-wrinkle cosmetics intended for mature skin care

Summary

In this work the analysis of Polish market offer of anti-wrinkle cosmetics for mature skin care was conducted. 269 products available on Polish cosmetic market were analysed between 1st July and 30th September 2017 in drugstores and hypermarkets in Poznań. The analysed products comprised Polish and foreign brands such as: AA (Oceanic), Bielenda, Dermika, Eveline, Garnier, Janda, Kolastyna, Lift 4 Skin, Lirene (Dr Irena Eris), L’Oreal, Mincer, Mixa, Nivea, Perfecta and Yoskine (Dax Cosmetics), Soraya, Tołpa and Ziaja. The aim of analysis was to estimate the kinds of active ingredients used in these products, and dividing all products due to the cosmetic purpose, the age-group, and the price range. The analysis showed that creams intended for day as well as night care for 40+ and 30+ age-groups are the most popular anti-wrinkle products on the Polish cosmetic market. 40% of analysed anti-wrinkle products are in price range from 20.00 to 39.99 PLN. As a result of analysis it was found that there are 121 plant extracts, 47 natural oils/fats and 145 other antiageing active ingredients including vitamins in all analysed products. Vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, peptides, panthenol and alantoin, turned out to be the most often occurring cosmetic compounds in anti-wrinkle cosmetics. Shea butter, the most popular natural plant fat, occurred in 40% of analysed products, in turn the most popular plant extract – Glycine soja extract was available only in 10% of all analysed cosmetics.
