Dried berry extracts as valuable components of organic cosmetics

Key words:
berries, hydro-alcoholic extracts, cosmetic
emulsions, cosmeceuticals.

Berries are an excellent natural source of antioxidants, widely available in Poland. The tendency to use organic additives in body care preparations is conducive to research and facilitates the search for ever new active components. In this study, hydro-alcoholic extracts of four dried berries (chokeberry, bilberry, goji berry and raspberry) were added to skin care creams. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of such additives on the performance properties of selected cosmetic emulsions. It has been found that the use of the extracts in the cream formula improves the degree of skin hydration and/or lubrication.
